Out and About in Quy Nhon - September 2008

These are some photos I have taken around town during the last month
This is one of the lakes in Quy Nhon. Alan and I went bird watching in this area - you do have to stay on the paths because it is one of the areas where there are still unexploded bombs. People get injured here sometimes. The water is apparently very polluted with chemicals and metals left over from the war.

This is one of the communes that is within the city boundaries - I love visiting these areas

A fine example of the topiary that is so popular here

Adeline and I decided to get off the back of the motorbikes and walk when we got to this area - Pat and Alan did manage to ride through without coming to grief - just!

These kids were having a great time while the adult was operating the winch that lowers the fishing net into the water

The busy fishing wharf - I love the colours and shapes of the boats - they remind me of pictures in story books from my childhood

This fantastic machine rapidly shreds huge blocks of ice into fragments that are sent down a shoot into the holds of the fishing boats

I enjoyed watching these men creating these sculptures in a new park that was created (but not quite finished) for the festival

If you look closely you can see QN's famous bridge -

it goes right from one side of the picture to the other

Merieke and Ann at our favorite Sinh To (fruit smoothie) place

Two views of a Buddha

Creative use of an old wheel at the gate

My favorite menu to date! I chose not to have dessert but I did have a "good appetite"
